Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs 247.95

Given:

M.P. = Rs 290

Successive discounts = 10% and 5%

Formula used:

Equivalent discount of x and y = x + y – (x × y/100)

Discount = M.P. × (discount%/100)

S.P. = M.P. – Discount

Calculation:

Successive discounts = 10% and 5%

⇒ Equivalent discount = 10 + 5 – (50/100)

⇒ Equivalent discount = 15 – (1/2)

⇒ Equivalent discount = 29/2 %

Now, M.P. = Rs 290

⇒ Discount = M.P. × (discount%/100)

⇒ Discount = 290 × 29/(2 × 100)

⇒ Discount = 89.10/2

⇒ Discount = 49.05

⇒ S.P. = 290 – 49.05

⇒ S.P. = 247.95

∴ Selling price after discounts are availed is Rs 247.95
