A particle is projected vertically upwards from a point x on the ground. It takes a time t1 to reach a point A, at a height ‘h’ above the ground. The particle continues to move and takes a time t2 to reach the ground. The value of h in terms of t1 and t2 is

(1) \((\frac{t_1+t_2}{2})gt_1\)

(2) g t1t2

(3) 2g t1t2

(4) 1/2 g t1t2

Best answer

(4) 1/2 g t1t2

Let ‘u’ be the velocity of projection of the particle at 0. The total time taken to reach the ground back is t1 + t2 .

Now, for the first t, second of motion, we have,
