The plot of osmotic pressure \((\prod)\) vs concentration \((mol L^{-1})\) for a solution gives a straight line with slope 25.73 L bar \(mol^{-1 }\). The temperature at which the osmotic pressure measurement is done is

(Use R = 0.083 L bar \(mol^{-1} K^{-1}\)

(1) \(37 ^\circ C \)

(2) \(310 ^ \circ C \)

(3) \(25.73^\circ C\)

(4) \(12.05^\circ C \)

Best answer

Correct option is (1) \(37 ^\circ C \)

\(\prod = CRT\)

Slope = RT

25.73 = 0.083 x T

\(T = \frac {25.73}{0.083} = 309.47 \approx 310 K\)

\(\therefore\) Temperature in \(^\circ C = 310 - 273\)

\(= 37 ^\circ C\)
