The Fig., shows a stone thrown vertically upwards and returning to its original position. Using the  diagram, answer the following questions:

At which of the points specified P, Q and R has the stone,

(a) Reached its maximum height?

(b) Stopped moving?

(a) At the highest point, the velocity of the stone is zero. Hence, the stone will reach its maximum height corresponding to point Q.

(b) Because at Q, the stone comes to rest (velocity = zero).
