On the basis of food habits, animals are classified into three categories:

1. Herbivorous animals – Those animals which eat plants and their parts as food, are known as herbivorous animals e.g., cow, goat, sheep, camel, etc.

2. Carnivorous animals – Those animals which eat flesh of other animals as their food, are called carnivorous animals,

e.g., lion, wolf, leopard, etc.

3. Omnivorous animals – Those animals which eat both plants as well as flesh of other animals are called omnivorous animals

e.g., crow, dog, cat, etc.
