Best answer

x + 7 - 8x/3 = 17/6 - 5x/2

L.C.M. of the denominators, 2, 3, and 6, is 6.

Multiplying both sides by 6, we obtain

6x + 42 - 16x = 17 - 15x

⇒ 6x - 16x + 15x = 17 - 42

⇒ 5x = -25

⇒ x = -25/5

⇒ x= -5
