Correct Answer - Option 1 : 58.33%

Given:

The mixture is 50 litres.

The percentage of milk in the mixture is 50%

Calculation:

According to the question, we have,

The quantity of Milk in 40 litres of the mixture,

⇒ 50 × (50/100)

⇒ 25 litres

The quantity of water in 40 litres of mixture

⇒ 50 - 25

⇒ 25 litres

Now, after adding 10 litres of water to the mixture,

New quantity of mixture = 50 + 10

⇒ 60 litres

The quantity of water = 25 + 10

⇒ 35 litres

Percentage of water in the new mixture,

⇒ (35/60) × 100

⇒ 58.33%

∴ The percentage of water in the new mixture is 58.33%.
