Development can be defined as a broad term that includes a series of qualitative and progressive changes. The development of human beings is divided into different stages such as InfancyEarly ChildhoodLate ChildhoodAdolescence, and Adulthood.

 The period of late childhood ranges from 6 years to the attainment of sexual maturity, around 12- 13 years.

  • Physical Development:-There is relatively uniform but slow physical development. The weight gain is almost even throughout late childhood and the child gains 2-3 inches every year.
  • Emotional development:- Boys tend to show anger 'or curiosity while girls experience fears, worries and feelings of affection. They began most of the tasks independently.
  • Intellectual development:- Children at the late childhood level are full of curiosity and are keen to explore the environment.They understand the concept of mass, number, and area. They possess a good observing capability.
  • Social development:-The older child shows a strong desire to be an accepted member of the peer. group. They are socially active and have friends.
  • Moral development:- Moral code is developed on the basis of general rather than specific situations. Discipline also helps in this process. The use of rewards, punishment, and consistent application of rules enable the child to develop moral behavior. 

Thus, it is concluded that In late childhood period children understand the conversion of Mass, Number, and Area.
