Correct Answer - Option 2 : x < y

Calculation

I. x2 + 22x + 120 = 0

⇒ x2 + 12x + 10x + 120 = 0

⇒ x(x + 12) + 10(x + 12) = 0

⇒ (x + 12)(x + 10) = 0

⇒ x = -12, -10

II. 10y2 + 23y + 12 = 0

⇒ 10y2 + 15y + 8y + 12 = 0

⇒ 5y(2y + 3) + 4(2y + 3) = 0

⇒ (2y + 3)(5y + 4) = 0

⇒ y = -3/2, -4/5

Value of X

 Value of Y

 Relation

-12

-3/2

x < y

-12

-4/5

x < y

-10

-3/2

x < y

-10

-4/5

x < y

∴ x < y
