Correct Answer - Option 4 : 80 km

Given:

A train running at 60 km/hr crosses a man walking in the same direction as the train at speed of 20 km/hr in 2 hours.

Concepts used:

Relative speed in same direction = Speed of train – Speed of man

Distance = Speed × time

Calculation:

Relative speed in same direction = Speed of the train – Speed of the man

⇒ 60 km/hr – 20 km/hr = 40 km/hr

Distance = Speed × time

⇒ 40 km/hr × 2 hours

⇒ 80 km

∴ The initial distance between train and man 80 km.
