Willam Douglas faced two accidents in water in his childhood. At the age of three or four, he was almost buried with the waves at the beach. Then at the age of eleven or twelve, he had a narrow escape from drowning in a swimming pool. So water creates a feeling of hatred and terror in him.
विलियम डगलस ने बचपन में पानी में दो दुर्घटनाओं का सामना किया। तीन या चार वर्ष की उम्र में समुद्र तट की लहरों ने उसे लगभग डुबो दिया था। तत्पश्चात् ग्यारह या बारह वर्ष की उम्र में वह एक तरणताल में डूबने से बाल-बाल बचा। इसलिए पानी उसमें घृणा और भय की भावना पैदा कर देता है।
