Democracy is intimately connected with public discussion and interactive reasoning. India has since ancient times had a tradition of public discussion and reasoning based on interaction. Great debates have occurred in the history of India. It is public opinion which strengthens a democracy, and public opinion is formed only through debate and reasoning.
प्रजातंत्र का सार्वजनिक बहस का अन्त:क्रिया पर आधारित तर्क-वितर्क से घनिष्ठ सम्बन्ध है। भारत में प्राचीन समय से ही सार्वजनिक बहस व अन्तःक्रिया पर आधारित तर्क-वितर्क की परम्परा रही है। भारत के इतिहास में बड़े-बड़े शास्त्रार्थ हुए हैं। यह सार्वजनिक राय ही है जो किसी प्रजातंत्र को सदृढ़ करती है, एवं सार्वजनिक राये केवल बहस तथा तर्क-वितर्क से बनती है।
