Correct Answer - Option 4 : 70

Given:

The average score of 52 students is 45.

Formula used:

The sum of the score of all students = the average × total number of students

Calculation:

The sum of the scores of 52 students(A) = 52 × 45 = 2340

If the highest and the lowest scores are excluded then the average decreases by 1

The sum of the scores of remaining 50 students(B) = 50 × 44 = 2200

The sum of the highest and the lowest scores = A - B

⇒  A - B = 2340 - 2200

⇒  A - B = 140

The average of the highest and the lowest scores = 140/2 = 70

∴ The average of the highest and the lowest scores 70.
